Please be patient while they download. Early, glass tensioner model with early style cast iron base, silver-plated Willcox & Gibbs Treadle Sewing Machine with Rosewood Table and Bonnet; one of a kind! Silver plated special edition Sewing Machines were built for special purposes, such as World Fairs and Exhibitions, and for dignitaries or the like. I have never heard of another silver plated Willcox and Gibbs treadle sewing machine. It is also possible that it was available as special order for a higher price and only very few were ever made. The wood of the Tabletop and the Bonnet appears to be solid Rose Wood! The Bonnet is crafted with Tiger-Maple wood inside as shown in picture # 10. The head of the machine is ornamented with a different gold design then the usual Willcox & Gibbs Sewing Machines. The treadle is the different very early version and has not the letters W and G as a logo. I have seen another one like this stand but not with a silver plated head. The serial number puts the machine into the production year 1870. All machines manufactured before 1875 have no automatic tensioner and have instead the glass tensioner. The machine is in very good condition and just needs a cleaning and oil to run like new.

The Gold Decorations are almost perfect and have little wear. All the metal parts of the machine are silver plated and are oxidized as expected. The little drawer is still present and has lots of original parts and accessories. Some of the parts are also silver plated.

Even the 22 page original instruction manual is still present and complete with all pages intact, and in perfect condition. The key to lock the bonnet and the little drawer is also in the drawer and both locks work off the same key! The leather belt and wooden pitman-rod are missing. A true museum quality one of a kind machine of one of the best looking machines ever built.
