For your consideration is this rare and very desirable vintage Singer Featherweight sewing cabinet #68. It is in excellent condition! The top has what appears to be water marks, probably the previous owner put a plant on the top. I will leave the repair to the owner as if it was restored, the original condition would still be intact.
If refinishing is the choice, the hardest thing about doing it would be matching the color of the stain. The cabinet has an oval top which comes off to be able to insert the FW to sew. There is a small chip of the veneer on the underside as shown in a photo. Not a biggie to repair. The wood is in beautiful condition!Everything is working as it should. The legs which quite often have damage are in great condition! This cabinet came with a Centennial FW model 221 at an estate sale, which I will be listing shortly. I have read that these cabinets were made in the late 1940's to the mid 1950's and my thought is that maybe this is a Centennial cabinet as well as they came together. The cabinets were not numbered however as far as I know and I didn't find any.
The machine is from 1948, one of the first issue of centennial machines. We will work together to get you the cabinet as cheaply and SAFELY as we can. I live in Piedmont, WV, the one in Mineral County.
