It can also do darning. These machines were only made in Great Britain so they are all wired for 220V. This machine has been adapted for dual use - both US/Canada 110V and rest of the world 220V by use of a plug-in 220V-to-110V adapter. This way the machine remains unaltered and as original a possible to retain its historical and collector value and be usable anywhere without need for anything else.
The only alteration, for safety reasons, was the removal of the old capacitors in both the controller and the motor. These were needed with the old electrical systems, but no longer, and need to be removed whenever possible. Though I don't see the point. Original serial number EM605022 indicates a production date of August 2, 1957 according to the ISMACS database.
Machine works fine (see sample) and is very clean. In great condition both inside and out.Refer to photos for more detailed cosmetic condition. The machine sews great on 1st try without me even doing a thing to it except oiling it, which you always have to (with original Singer lubricant).
