Check out this Singer Featherweight 221K White Sewing Machine in excellent original condition. Serial # EV905713 which likely dates it to 1964.
It sews very quietly and smooth. All items, accessories and booklets pictured are included. The foot pedal and cord appear to be original. A vintage 160506 buttonholer in excellent condition is included. The paint is in superb condition with a few tiny blemishes on the deck and extension plate, these are circled in the pictures. The carry case is in overall very good condition with a few small issues. Note: The ugly part is the unseen bottom of the case. Rest of it looks nice and original. It was painstakingly cleaned with mild soap and water using cotton swabs.
This was owned by a relative of mine and was part of her estate. Apparently it had a bobbin jam VERY early in its life, was put in a closet and forgotten. I believe this because it still had the original cotton/rubber belt on it but had disentegrated over time. I'll include the old belt. I service and restore all kinds of vintage machines on the side and this was a delight to bring back to life.It was absolutely clean and bright inside. I removed a pretty bad thread spin jam on the bobbin drive. The upper needle mech was bound up because all lubrication had dried up long ago. I did NOT try to run it before carefully disassembling, oiling and greasing all points. It runs super smooth and stitches perfectly. Tension adjustments were not needed. Timing was off a little from the jam, but that was expected. I obtained a new white urethane belt and the proper motor grease from the featherweight shop as well as a tune up kit, replacement emblem and service manual which I will include. Added a rubber button so the extension will not get scratched anymore. Upgraded the lamp to LED so it runs much cooler. Cleaned inside and out, lubed with tri-flow and Lubriplate. The cord had a cut in it and was taped up so I had to cut a few inches off and re-connect it inside the case, preserving the original cord and plug.
This was my first time dealing with a white Featherweight. It will run circles around any modern straight stitch machine. This is not a toy, but a solid piece of machinery that was designed to be durable and portable. It is a very sweet machine.I wrestled with keeping it for myself, but I need to move on and make room for more machines. Let a collector appreciate it. Just keep it properly lubricated and it will last forever. The item "Singer Featherweight 221K White Sewing Machine 1964.
